Friends of a Feather

When I first started machine quilting, I hated feathers. I thought they were old fashioned, and looked more like sappy hearts.

They have been growing on me over the years. Some quilts even seem to ask for them.

For those of you who are new to feathers, I stitched them in the white crosses of this quilt.
