Hourglass Baby Quilt with 3D Flowers

This happy baby quilt has a lot of features that I love. For starters, the polka dot border. I love those happy colorful dots. I love the yellow sashing, and the simple hourglass blocks. If we stopped there, the quilt would be cute, but a little boring. The 3D flowers finish it off perfectly.

I wish I knew the pattern and designer for this quilt. I would love to share it with you so you could make one of your own.
The orange hourglass blocks are quilted with a spiral. I love the movement it gives to the quilt.
I used what is probably my favorite motif from my Pam Clarke book. This design coordinates nicely with the 3D flowers. You can also see the spiral vine that I quilted in to the polka dot border.
The yellow sash is quilted with a wide figure eight. This design is always one of my favorites.

Swaddling

I wish I seen this two weeks ago before my baby was born. I sure could use it right about now!

doggies!

Thanks for your votes on the logo! Yes, even those of you who voted silently and didn't comment. You know who you are! While I'm mulling over those options it's about time I showed you the most amazingly wonderful adorable doggy quilt that my Grandma Z made for baby A (he's 4 months old now so I've really been procrastinating). Looky!

I love this quilt for several reasons. 1. It's so plush! 2. We love doggies at our house and have two of our own (Zibby the husky and Baxter the boxer). 3. It reminds me of the many hunting dogs we had growing up.

I'm very unhelpful on the details of the quilt. I don't know the name of the pattern or where you can find it. If you're dying to know, and have the patience for those applique/button-hole-stitched pups I'm sure I can ask Grandma Z.

Goodies

I'm behind on a lot of things these days. Today my Google Reader had over 800 unread items. I sifted through a few of them but decided the best thing to do is to "mark all items as read" and start fresh.

Here are a few goodies I've starred lately:

Diaper Bag?

It's not a secret anymore, I'm going to be needing my first diaper bag before the end of the year!

I've made two different diaper bag patterns in the past, Amy Butler's Nappy Bag and Everything Bag. These are both great bags...but what other bags are out there? Do you have a favorite?

I'm a little intrigued by this Urban Diaper Bag by Izzy & Ivy.... good thing I've got a little time! Can I please have one of each?

Make This

This blog makeover has been so fun! I hope you're keeping your eyes open for more changes to come. For now though, we've got to retire the "Make This" menu on the side bar. These are fantastic links that I just can't bear to part with so I'm going to transfer the links over here so we can all have access to them later.

Did you try any of these? I tried a few of them including the fabric covered tacs, cloth baby shoes, and the quilted wallet. I really want to make the rag rug still...and my ironing board is in dire need of a new cover.

Sneak Peek

Here's a sneak peek at my baby girl version of the Folk Dance quilt. It's off to the machine quilter for the final touch. Little baby Dylan was born this past week and we're taking special trip to California to give her this lovely quilt. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Boy Crazy

There seems to be an abundance of baby boys coming into the world that I know. Boy quilts are always a struggle for me. The fabric shopping requires a great deal of creativity. Thanks again to my mom for wrestling with my kiddos while I pieced this top over the weekend. I forgot how truly fast a Multi Stripe top goes together!

A Quick Quickie

Have you tried the Stack Coins Baby Quilt pattern from Moda Bake Shop? A friend and I whipped it up in just 3 hours (working together) the other night! Here it is all folded up and ready for delivery to the quilt machine! I can't wait to see how it turns out! I know baby Jakson/Jakson's mommy is going to love it!

Birdie Branch

It snowed a foot at my house yesterday. Yep 12 whole inches. I might have gave up on life, but then I found this birdie mobile and tutorial. This is now on the top of my favorite things I am dying to make list. Thank you Spool Sewing! Click here for the free pattern.

Stripe Quilts

How could we celebrate small month and not talk about small quilts! These two quilts are quick to sew up and will easily impress the little ones...and their moms right?

tutorial here

This one is so easy it doesn't even need a tutorial. Try doing something fun with your quilting on these stripes. Check out more pics here.

Booties

Have you seen Heather Bailey's Bitty Booties pattern? It's free here. What a great small project! I'm making a pair right now. I've finished one so far...look!

I can think of all sorts of cute variations on this pattern. How generous of Heather to make it free! Want some more ideas? Check out the Bitty Booties Flickr group.

Modern Baby Boy

Last Friday I bought these:

And did some of this:

On Thursday I finished this:

And 10 minutes later, took it to a baby shower:
It's probably a good thing that I didn't have it very long. I'd have wanted to keep it for myself. This stripey baby quilt is fast and easy. Don't fret about hand quilting or machine quilting. Try using embroidery floss and stitching a simple pattern on your quilt. I chose to do circles since several of my fabrics had circles on them. I love doing baby quilts because they are smaller and easy to finish in a short period of time.
